Running 300km for the kids

A week of the RVM | 7 days of 42.2 for BBBS

Sunday, October 11th – 4:22:40

Such a great day!

The last one was by far the hardest, we pushed hard for as long as we could and were on pace for a 3:53- 3:55 Marathon but unfortunately Donald was hit with some very nasty leg issues in the last 5km and they had to walk it in.

The support on course today was amazing!  Crossfit Zone was out in full force and we had an enormous cheering squad of family and friends and Rumon Carter was all over the place snapping pictures!

Mackay and Peterson to run the Royal Victoria Marathon route seven days in a row in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria.

VICTORIA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria are excited to announce that Victoria ultramarathoners Robert Mackay and Donald Peterson will be running 7 days of 42.2 (a total of 300km in seven days) starting on Monday October 5th and ending on Sunday October 11th at the finish line of the Royal Victoria Marathon (RVM) to raise awareness and funds for the organization.

Mackay and Peterson will run the RVM route starting at 6am each day from Monday to Saturday and then line up with the thousands of other participants at the start line of the RVM to cap off their run.

Mackay and Peterson are no strangers to multi-day racing; Rob completed the Marathon des Sable in 2005, both participated in the Gobi March in 2007, and Peterson completed the Coastal Challenge in 2009.   They have also both participated in numerous ultramarathons.

Peterson has a personal affiliation to Big Brothers Big Sisters.  He has been a father in the organization for a number of years to a young daughter who is a “Little” in the Big Sister program and has seen the incredibly positive effect it has produced in her life.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Rhonda Brown, says, “We are proud to be a partner with Donald and Robert on this initiative.  Their involvement with BBBS and their dedication to our mandate is fantastic.  The two are encouraging and inspiring to all of us at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria.”

Mackay and Peterson are challenging members of the media and community to join them for any part of this adventure.
